Four works by Walter Evans-Wentz regarding Tibetan Buddhism. Evans-Wentz was an American anthropologist and leading scholar in the study of Tibetan Buddhism, best known for his English translation of 'The Tibetan Book of the Dead', which is included in this collection. Each volume is bound in the original green cloth binding with gilt detail, alongside the original dust wrappers. Each dust wrapper is unclipped, excluding, 'Tibet's Great Yogi Milarepa'. The half title pages are present in each volume. This collection consists of: 'The Tibetan Book of the Dead', the second impression of the first edition. With a foreword by Sir John Woodroffe. The Tibetan Book of the Dead, also known as 'The Bardo Thodol', is an important text from the teachings of Karma Lingpa, describing the journey of consciousness which occurs after death. With a portrait frontispiece and five plates. Collated complete. 'Tibet's Great Yogi Milarepa, A Biography from the Tibetan, being the Jetsun-Kahbum', the second edition. Milarepa is widely regarded as one of the most famous yogis and spiritual poets. He is well known due to his murderous past, before turning to Buddhism. With a colour frontispiece, and five plates. Collated complete. With a bookseller's label to the front paste-down. 'The Tibetan Book of Great Liberation, or the Method of Realizing Nirvana Through Knowing the Mind, Preceded by An Epitome of Padma-Sambhava's Biography and Followed by Guru Phadampa Sangay's Teachings'. Condition

In the original cloth binding with gilt detail. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear. The odd light mark to the boards. The odd spot to the paste-downs. Light offsetting to the free endpapers of, 'Milarepa', with a bookseller's label to the front paste-down. Bookseller's label to the front free endpaper of, 'Book of the Dead'. The original dust wrappers are in very smart condition. All but, 'Milarepa', are unclipped. Light shelf wear to the edges. Spines are darkened. Light marks to the panels. Chipping to the edges of the dust wrappers for, 'Milarepa', and 'Book of the Dead'. The dust wrapper for, 'Book of the Dead', has been repaired with tape to the inside. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with the odd spot. Spotting to the fore-edges.
