First edition. Scarce work. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, one colour plate, a double-page pop-out panorama, and many in-text images. Collated complete and in perfect working condition. A collection of stories from Charles Dickens, an English novelist, journalist, short story writer and social critic who created some of literature's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Retold for children by his grand-daughter Mary Angela Dickens, an English novelist and journalist. Illustrated by Harold Copping, a British artist best known as an illustrator of Biblical scenes.
Condition
In the original quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, smart with rubbing and chipping to the extremities resulting in light loss to the board tips. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Minor age toning and the odd small tide mark to the endpapers. All folding features are in perfect working condition. Previous owner's ink stamp to the front pastedown.
