What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The Souvenir Programme for Marie Tempest's jubilee matinee organised by the Daily Telegraph for Tuesday May 28th 1935. All the proceeds from this jubilee performance formed a special fund to help actors and actresses when they are ill.

The programme is a gracious tribute to Miss Tempest and is beautifully illustrated and presented. There are contributions written by Sir James Barrie, W. Somerset Maugham, Sir Edward German, Sir Landon Ronald, Noel Coward, St. John Ervine and W. A Darlington. There is also a loose slip for  'Addition to the Programme.'

Marie Tempest was an English singer and actress, who became a famous soprano in late Victorian light opera and Edwardian Musical comedies.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some fading to the boards and spine and some bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages with the odd scattered spot throughout.
