Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition published for general circulation, early issue with illustrations to pp. 304-5 listed correctly in the collation. Understandably without the dust wrapper.

Preceded by the incomplete and extremely scarce 'Oxford Edition' of 1922, and the privately printed 'Subscriber's Edition' of 1926. This edition was issued in the same year as a trade edition limited to seven hundred and fifty copies.

An autobiographical account of T. E. Lawrence's experiences in the British Army as 'Lawrence of Arabia,' serving as a military advisro to Bedouin forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire in 1916-8. It was later adapted into the film Lawrence of Arabia

T. E. Lawrence was a British archaeologist, diplomat, and author, known for his role during the Arab Revolt and the Sinai and Palestine Campaign in the First World War. The title 'Lawrence of Arabia' was attributed to him as a celebration of his vivid narration of his various activities and associations.

Illustrated with four folding maps, forty-eight striking full page plates in black and white, and other illustrations in text. Collated, complete.

Lawrence of Arabia memorial leaflet loosely inserted.
