First edition of Jock of the Islands by John Cromar in the original publisher's cloth binding.
A scarce edition with only nine copies in libraries.
Cromar was a Scottish-Australian seaman and author. This work retells his experiences in Melanesia in the late nineteenth century. It was one of a few first hand accounts of Melanesia at the time.
Illustrated with sixteen monochrome plates of photographs. Collated, complete.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There are some light marks to the front board. The spine is slightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot and light age toning.
