The first edition of this work. A collection of essays illustrative of certain aspects of George Moore's life and genius, designed by the author Charles Morgan as a tribute to the celebrated novelist and friend. The collection was drawn from material collected by Morgan in preparation of a biography, project which was later abandoned.
George Moore was an Irish author, known for his naturalistic writings and as one of the first English language authors to be influenced by French realism, particularly the work of Emile Zola.
Complete with the scarce front flyleaf of the dust wrapper, indicated to be all that was issued with the Macmillan London edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and other photographic illustrations in black and white.

Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding over marbled boards. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear, a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Loosely inserted, the front flyleaf of the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a frontispiece and other photographic illustrations in black and white.
