This is a wonderful collection of short stories by Rudyard Kipling, narrated by children as well as the elf Puck. Many of these stories were originally published in 'Puck of Pook's Hill', the popular fantasy book which was published in 1905. These stories include fantasy and historical elements, with occasional meditations on magic and nature.
These work contains stories such as 'Weland's Sword', 'The Knights of the Joyous Venture', and 'The Winged Hats', with poetic verses at the beginning of each story. Verses include 'A Tree Song', 'Cities and Thrones and Powers', and ''Prophets have honour all over the Earth''.
Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) was an English journalist, short-story writer, and poet. His upbringing in British India inspired much of his work, including popular novels such as 'The Jungle Book'.
Prior owner's ink inscription to front endpaper, which reads, 'To Tom, with much love for a very Happy Christmas. from Auntie Dickie and Uncle Tommy. 1942'
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Minimal wear to the extremities and the head and tail of spine, with light fading to the spine and top edge of boards. A few marks to boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
