Jean de Brunhoff was a French writer and illustrator renowned for creating the stories of Babar the elephant, first published in 1931. He sadly passed away at the age of thirty-seven due to tuberculosis. Jean wrote and illustrated seven Babar's books, and the series was continued by his son, Laurent de Brunhoff.
In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with pictorial boards. Externally smart with minor shelfwear and slight rubbing to extremities and top joint. Slight bumping to head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Colourfully illustrated throughout.
