First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first edition of this work. In original unclipped dustwrapper. Edited by G D H Cole for the Nonesuch Press. This selection of Morris' prose, stories on verse, shorter poems, lectures and essays have been published together in honour of the centenary of Morris' birth. William Morris was an English textile designer, poet, novelist, translator and social activist. He was widely associated with the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain and his literary works helped to establish the modern fantasy genre.

Condition

In publisher's cloth binding and held in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Very little shelfwear to the boards. Dustwrapper is very smart with just some chipping to the head and tail of spine. Chipping is heavier to the head of spine. Small closed tear to the top of front wrap. Dustwrapper is sunned to the spine. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper, J C Gibbons, 1943. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges and generally clean throughout.
