Illustrated with 144 illustrations, four of which are in colour, and seven folding plans in a pocket to the rear, making 151 illustrations in total. The title page states 161 illustrations, which is a printing error. Collated from the list of illustrations and plans; complete.
Edward Keble Chatterton (1878-1944) was a prolific author who wrote chiefly concerning maritime and naval subjects.
In this work, Chatterton discusses ancient and modern sailing models, selecting specimens from private and public collections across Britain, Scandinavia, France, Germany, Holland, Spain and many other regions. To the rear of the work are 144 illustrations and seven plans, showing the best sailing models from history.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with fading to the spine and front board. Faint marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for offsetting to the end papers.
