Written by Major-General C.H. Foulkes, Late Royal Engineers and A.D.C to the King. He served in the First World War following the first German use of gas on April 22nd, 1915 at the Second Battle of Ypres. Afterwards, he became Britain's chief advisor on gas warfare.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with some minor shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, front hinge is very lightly strained to the title page. Remaining binding is firm. A few small creases to the folding plates and maps, though pages remain generally bright and clean throughout.
