Early edition, fourth printing of Crime and Its Detection edited by W. Teignmouth Shore complete in two volumes in original publisher's cloth bindings.
With contributions from various other authors and illustrations.
First published in 1931. Volume II is undated and has been dated based on the printing information provided in Volume I.
Volume I includes nine monochrome plates. Volume II includes seven monochrome plates. Collated, complete.
Contents of Volume I include logistics and background information to crime and detectives, such as 'The Metropolitan Police' and 'Circumstantial Evidence'. Volume II examines these in relation to case studies such as 'The Newcastle Train Murder' and 'The Podmore Case'.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth bindings. Externally, very smart. There is some bumping to the heads and tails of the spine and very minor bumping to the extremities. The spines are slightly worn. The hinges of Volume II are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some slight spotting to the endpapers.
