The vanishingly scarce first edition, first impression of this novel by 'Rupert Latimer', the pseudonym of Algernon Victor Mills, who became a writer following his career as a stage actor.

Latimer published three novels, with this being the first. He followed it with the 1943 work 'Death in Real Life', and the 1944 novel 'Murder After Christmas'. All contemporary editions from the author are exceptionally scarce.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper age toned to back strip, with losses of paper to back strip head and tail. Spotting to back strip. Tape repair to tail of fold over front joint. Further tape repair to fold over front flyleaf. Small closed tear to head of fold of front flyleaf. Light handling marks to head of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
