1933 The Hound of Death
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
An unusual work, as it was published by Odhams and not Christie's usual publisher Collins. A Collins edition appeared several years later.
Without the dustwrapper.
This work was not available for purchase in shops, but through the collection of coupons from 'The Passing Show', a weekly magazine by Odhams. The coupons originally appeared in issues 81-83 as part of a promotional relaunch of the magazine. With the coupons and seven shillings customers could choose one of six books.
This collection was only available to the U.K and was not for sale in America. However, some of the short stories appeared in other Christie publications.
The short stories to this work are as follows: The Hound of Death The Red Signal The Fourth Man The Gypsy The Lamp Wireless The Witness for the Prosecution The Mystery of the Blue Jar The Strange Case of Sir Arthur Carmichael The Call of Wings The Last Seance SOS.
Containing the first appearance of 'Witness for the Prosecution' which later became a successful stage-play.
A smart copy of this uncommon Christie work.
