Description
Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Uncommon
A complete run of the twenty-six parts forming Churchill's history of the First World War, each in the original publisher's illustrated wraps.
An important political and military figure, Sir Winston S. Churchill was also prominent and prolific author of histories, pamphlets, and booklets as well as the occasional fictional work. Churchill's history of the First World War was originally titled The World Crisis and published in six volumes in 1923-31, later re-published here under new title The Great War.
Churchill provides an original first-hand account of the conflict. During the Great War, he served as First Lord of the Admiralty, which almost cost him his political career when he was scapegoated for the disaster of the Dardanelles at Gallipoli and forced to resign. He gained favours again before the end of the war and re-joined the Government.
Pagination is continuous through to part 26, with one uniform title page to part 1.
Illustrated with numerous black and white photographs drawings, and plans throughout the whole run.
