Description

Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Medium 8vo edition. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. With a colour frontispiece. Telling of Allan Quatermain and his group of adventurers in an unexplored region of Africa in search for a missing brother of one of his men. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. In chapter XI, Haggard described an eclipse of the sun at the time of the full moon; when this was pointed out to him as being an impossibility, he changed the eclipse to one of the moon. This change took place in 1887 and all subsequent issues. As stated in "A Bibliography of the Works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard 1856-1925" by J. E. Scott.
