From the library of Eric Kenneth Prentice Back, with his bookplate to the verso to the rear endpaper. Kenn Back was a British meteorologist with the British Antarctic survey for many years. He spent eight winters in the Antarctic and is a descendent of Captain George Back. In addition, he served as base commander at Halley, Faraday and Rothera stations. His library collection was built over decades and highlights his love of polar exploration.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Bookplate to the verso to the front endpaper. Author's inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Dustwrapper is edgeworn with some chips, including a larger chip to the head of the spine. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the front wrap. Light discolouration with some spots. Small tape repairs to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with some odd spots.
