Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition of this work, with no engravings. A miscellaneous of writings by the well known poet and philosopher Samuel Taylor Coleridge. He was, with William Wordsworth, the founder of the Romantic Movement in England, famous for The Rhymes of the Ancient Mariner, and Kubla Khan, comprised in this work. With poems and prose, edited by Stephen Potter with biographical notes and an introduction.

With the stamp of Shakespeare and Company's Sylvia Beach Whitman foundation. The Shakespeare and Company bookstore is an iconic Parisian bookshop founded by Sylvia Beach in 1919.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally, very smart with only minor shelfwear. Minor marking to spine, which has slightly faded. Shakespeare and Company Foundation stamp to front free endpaper. Inscribed by a previous owner to front free endpaper, dated 1943. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
