This compelling selection of letters penned by celebrated author Lewis Carroll provides insight into his friendly relationships with various children. Illustrated with 14 plates, including sketches by Carroll and several facsimile reproductions of his handwriting, collated and complete. Famed for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and his nonsense poem The Jabberwocky, this collection of letters offers a glimpse of the humour and personality of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. One of Dodgson's younger friends, Evelyn Hatch, introduces the book with reminiscences of their time together. A first edition of this work, in the original unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine with some marginal wear to the extremities. Wrap has a few marks to the front, and a couple of small closed tears to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from some foxing to the endpapers, pages are bright and clean.
