What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce, With Dustwrapper

A best-seller in the USA, this volume comprises Powys' philosophical approach to the concept of solitude. Defined by the author as "a short textbook of the various mental tricks by which the human soul should obtain [...] comparative happiness beneath the normal burden of human fate."

The scarce first edition, first impression by Jonathan Cape. In the very scarce, price-clipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The dust wrapper is rather worn with some shelf wear and chipping throughout, and a minimal loss to the head and tail of the spine, which is slightly sunned; price-clipped. Internally, firmly bound. With a minor faint scattered spotting throughout.
