The first edition of this set comprising a catalogue of Frederick John Nettlefold's collection of pictures and drawing by various artists of the British school, as well as some of foreign schools to the fourth volume. Complete in four volumes.

Nettlefold was an important industrialist, grown up surrounded by beautiful things; his inclination was to make a catalogue of them. He had these reproductions in colour made from the works in his own collection.

Each of the art pieces is vastly described by C Reginald Grundy, art connoisseur well known by anyone interested in art, as well as accompanied by a short biography of their artists. Volumes three to four are also edited by F Gordon Roe.
