Lovecraft and 'The House' by Andre Maurois, alongside fifteen further tales that had not previously been published in book form.
With a tipped in slip about John Collier's 'Green Thoughts' to the front free endpaper, as called for.
Edited by the American writer of hard-boiled detective novels, Dashiell Hammett, author of such works as 'The Maltese Falcon' and 'The Thin Man'.
The personal copy of celebrated English science fiction author Brian Aldiss, best known for his 'Helliconia' trilogy. Inscribed by Aldiss himself to the head of the front pastedown. Associated with the British New Wave of science fiction, Aldiss received two Hugo Awards, one Nebula Award and one John W. Campbell Memorial Award.
Loosely inserted is a provenance notice signed by the executor of Aldiss's estate, his daughter Wendy.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumps to back strip head and tail, with minor loss of paper to head of rear joint, which is starting but firmly held. Front hinge strained to title page, and a touch tender. Inscription to head of front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with instances of spotting throughout.
