What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

Second edition. Illustrated with coloured frontispiece and nineteen plates. Collated complete. Written for visitors to the Mendips, this work includes the history of the caves and Welsh legends surrounding Wookey Hole. A 1000-year-old skeleton was discovered in the caves by Balch in 1912, and has also traditionally been linked to the legendary Witch of Wookey Hole, although analysis indicated that they are the remains of a male aged between 25 and 35. Written by Herbert E. Balch, an English archaeologist, naturalist, caver, and geologist who explored the caves of the Mendip Hills and pioneered many techniques used by modern cavers.

Condition

In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
