Collection of eight short case stories by H. C. Bailey, featuring his character of Reggie Fortune, a medically qualified detective. Bailey's stories are often dark and involve murderous obsession, police corruption, ad miscarriage of justice. 

The first edition of this work. A scarce copy.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, light bumping to head and tail of spine, back strip lightly faded with a minor closed tear. Internally, firmly bound. Minor light spotting to fore edge, affecting only occasional margin, otherwise pages bright and clean.
