A signed copy of a 1932 edition of this work, which was first published in 1912.
Inscribed by the author to the half title 'I particularly like this copy of the book; for it is Katie's, Max, December 1938'.
To the front pastedown is the bookplate of Katherine Elizabeth Lewis.
Katie Lewis was the daughter of prominent lawyer Sir George Lewis, and through her parents encountered numerous members of the literary and artistic elite. Oscar Wilde, writing to Katie's mother Elizabeth from Boston in June 1882, referred to Katie as "that tren-chant critic of life.". It is likely that Katie also knew Beerbohm.

This popular volume is a collection of seventeen parodies, imitating the styles of popular writers such as Henry James, George Bernard Shaw, Thomas Hardy and Joseph Conrad.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. A touch of fading to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Dust wrapper back strip lightly age toned, otherwise excellent. Bookplate to front pastedown. Author inscription to half title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
