Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and various full-page and in-text black-and-white illustrations. 

This is a wonderful facsimile reproduction of Thomas Tusser's 'A Hundreth' and 'Five Hundred Points of Good Husbandry'. This work defended the garden as the 'domain of the housewife', and has been considered notable for its defense of enclosures. The work was one of the best selling poetry books of the Elizabethan Age', and combines a mix of homely instructions with observations on rural life and country customs. 

Contents include an editor's introduction, a family tree, 'The Life of Tusser', and 'A Hundred' and 'Five hundred Good Points of Husbandry'. The text ends with the 'Last will of Thomas Tusser' and 'Epitaph'. 

Thomas Tusser (1524-1580) was an English poet and farmer, best known for 'A Hundredth Good Pointes of Husbandrie'. 

Edited by Dorothy Hartley (1893-1985), an English social historian, illustrator, and author. She is particularly known for 'The Life and Work of the People of England', which was presented in six volumes.

In the publisher's original quarter-cloth binding on paper covered boards, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. Minimal bumping to the head and tail of spine with discolouration and age-toning to the margins of boards , particularly the front board. Age toning with the odd spot to the end papers. Dust wrapper is very smart with minimal chipping to the spine region of text and a few small closed tears to the top edge of wraps. A few marks with light fading to spine region. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very clean, with light age-toning to text.
