Charles Lamb was an English essayist, poet, and antiquarian, best known for his 'Essays of Elia' and for the children's book 'Tales from Shakespeare', co-authored with his sister, Mary Lamb. A first edition copy. With an inscription, assumed to be by the author, reading 'To Madge - who helped so kindly in the preparation of this work, from Uncle Sam, 1933'

Condition

In a full cloth binding. Externally, smart with some very slight bumping and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound, very bright and clean with an inscription to the front free endpaper.
