With illustrations by Arthur Rackham, in Linotype Estienne by its designer George W Jones at the Sign of the Dolphon in Gough Square London, England. During the ‘Golden Age’ of British book illustration Rackham was one of its leading artists. Stylistically, Rackham’s illustrations reflected pen and India ink drawings. He used expressive line paired with a subtle use of watercolour to create his beautiful images.
Signed by Arthur Rackham to the limitation page.
With the original slipcase.
A very bright copy of this work.
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with original slipcase. Externally, in an excellent condition with just some minor shelfwear to the extremities. Prior owner's inscription to the spine of slipcase, '1488'. Minor fading to the spine. Slipcase is very smart, with rubbing to the joints and extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Slipcase is VERY GOOD.
