The scarce first edition, first impression, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.

The first work in J.S. Fletcher's eleven work series following the investigations of Ronald Camberwell, a young detective who becomes involved in solving a murder, alongside ex-C.I.D. man Chaney.

The work of prolific English author Joseph Smith Fletcher, who published numerous crime fiction novels during the 'Golden Age of Detective Fiction'.

With six pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with boards exceptionally bright. Significant losses to dust wrapper, most concentrated to back strip head and front flyleaf. Clear adhesive tape repairs to the majority of dust wrapper reverse, specifically to folds at joints and flyleaves. Closed tear to head of dust wrapper back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd light handling mark.
