An extensive guide in two complete parts, 'Magicians of the Past' and 'Modern Magicians.' Goldston reveals the secrets behind memorable tricks of various magicians around the world, including Houdini, Paul Valadon, and Max Holden among many others.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and nine full page plates as well as numerous illustrations in text to facilitate the understanding of the tricks.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. With the free protestant church of England's stamp on the front free endpaper, which has a former ownership signature and inscription. The stamp is also found to the lower edge of the volume. The cloth to the spine has slightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are generally bright and clean with only the odd minor faint spot particularly to the endpapers. Illustrated with a frontispiece and nine full page plates as well as other numerous illustrations in text. The frontispiece and the plates facing p.128 and p.142 are present however loose.
