Illustrated with forty-two photographic plates, five folding charts, and one folding photographic plates. With further full page diagrams.

An account of the design of the British single-engined single-seat racing seaplane, the Supermarine S.5. This aircraft was the winner of the 1927 Coupe d'Aviation Maritime Jacques Schneider, a prize given to the winner of a race of seaplanes and flying boats.

This work, the report of the Aeronautical Research Committee, includes information on its design, and the testing process of the craft, including the results of wind tunnel tests, tests of models, and thrust tests.

With the stamp of the Royal Aeronautical Society to the fore edge of the text block.

With 'Air Ministry. For Official Use.' to the head of the title page.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with discolouration to back strip, and handling marks to boards. Inscription to title page head. Tape to tail of front board. Stamp to fore edge of text block. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
