H. Clifford Smith's immense history of Buckingham Palace, a fascinating look at the important and iconic Royal residence. 

In this work, Smith explores the history of the Palace, along side the furniture, decoration, and architecture of the Palace.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, three colour plates, and two-hundred and one monochrome plates.

Collated, complete.

With introductory chapters on the building and site by Christopher Hussey.

Newspaper clippings adhered to the verso to the front endpaper, half-title, reverse of the frontispiece, to each side of the dedication leaf, and to a few other pages, including one larger photograph clipping loosely inserted. All clippings pertain to the Royal Family, most containing photos of King Edward and Queen Mary, dating from 1934 to 1942.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, with some spots of damp stains to the boards and spine, mostly to the front board. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities. Spine is a little faded. Front hinge is starting but firm. Newspaper clipping tipped-in to the verso to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper is edge worn with some chips and closed tears, with repairs to the reverse. Some discolouration and marks to the wraps. Larger chip to the head of the rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd light handling mark. Newspaper clippings to various pages of text.
