This account of the ordinary soldier's First World War experience is a fictionalised version of real events, representing a widely relatable experience. 'John Bullock' reflects the 'John Bull' of English culture, the quintessential Englishman.
The title is also intended to echo Pilgrim's Progress, John Bunyan (1684).
In the original publisher's half vellum binding with cloth boards. Externally, excellent. There is some very slight bumping to the extremities. Slight markings to the vellum. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean.
