A secret-police force of the Russian Empire in the late 19th century and early 20th century. This work includes chapters on their functions, secret collaborators and assistants, agents provocateurs, the Jewish Question, Russian dissenters, Rasputin, Nihilism and Socialism, the Revolution, and more. Written by A. T. Vassilyev, a Russian writer and historian. With an introduction by René Fülöp-Miller, an Austrian cultural historian and writer.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the rear board. The odd mark to the boards and wear to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound but lacking title page. Pages are very bright and clean with a contemporary ink inscription to the half-title and rear endpaper. A small tear to the centre of the rear endpaper.
