The first edition of this work, which was the author's second. It details Smythe's time as a member of the international team attempting to reach the summit of Kangchenjunga, a mountain in the Himalayas and the third highest in the world, which was led by Gunter Dyhrenfurth.
Written by Frank Smythe, an English mountaineer known for travelling around the Alps and the Himalayas, as well as attempts on Mount Everest and Kangchenjunga. A prolific author, this work secured his reputation as a respected writer. Mount Smythe in Alberta, Canada, is named for him.
Containing the ownership bookplate of Charles Edward Corbett.
Illustrated with photographs throughout depicting the author's travels and encounters.
Condition
In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is a little faded as to be expected, with some slight bumping to the head and tail and the extremities. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, binding is generally firm. Pages are a little age-toned to the edges.
