A very comprehensive work on the Australasian Antarctic Expedition from 1911 to 1914. This expedition was lead by Sir Douglas Mawson, the author of this work, and explored the Antarctic coast of Southern Australia. It was a harrowing expedition, resulting in the death of two of the party's members, though the mission resulting in important scientific reports in the fields of geology, biology, meteorology, oceanography, and more. Sir Douglas Mawson was given a hero's welcome upon his return from this mission.

Illustrated with ninety-two photographs, eighteen diagrams, and three folding maps.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Slight fading to the spine and joints. Internally, front hinge is starting but firm. Binding is firm throughout. Spotting to the fore-edge, affecting a few pages, with are otherwise generally clean.
