Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

First Edition.

In the publisher's original cloth binding.

This is a political work on cities and the role they play in socio-economic relationships, as well as the social responsibilities of the upper classes.

The author, Paul Banks, states that the book originated as a result of his journeys around England, where he witnessed 'the gay irresponsibility' of London despite obvious financial difficulties. He argues for a 'renewal of culture', in which aristocratic classes must take communal responsibility for the world they live in.

Contents include 'The City and the Earth', 'The Soul of Man in the City', 'The Soul of Man in the Country', and 'The Destiny of Metropolis'.

Two pages of publisher's adverts to rear of text.

Collated, complete.
