Alec Waugh's vivid travel work, Hot Countries, provides a detailed account of his voyages through the Far East, West Indies, and the South Sea Islands, recounting the author's experiences travelling when he was a young man.

Alec Waugh was the elder brother of Evelyn Waugh, and a prolific author known for his works on food and travels.

The first edition of this work. 

Illustrated with a woodcut frontispiece, six woodcut plates, and woodcut headpieces to each chapter, by Lynd Ward. Collated and complete.

Containing a previous owner's ink signature to the front free-endpaper, dated 1930.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some shelf wear and a few light marks to the boards. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Containing a previous owner's ink signature to the front free-endpaper, dated 1930. Internally, binding is lightly strained. A few spots to the pages, which are otherwise bright and clean.
