The first edition of this work.

An immense study into the examples of Romanesque architecture in England that date from before the Norman Conquest in 1066.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and sixty-five plates.

Collated, complete.

Written by Alfred Clapham, a noted scholar of Romanesque architecture. 

A volume subtitled 'After the Conquest' was also published.

Bookplate of David Ian Moor to the front pastedown. Library label from the Library of the Incorporated Association of Architects and Surveyors to the recto to the front endpaper, stated that the book was presented to the library by the publishers on the 1st July 1931.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some minor marks to the boards and spine. Spine is a little faded. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Label to the spine. Bookplate and library ink to the front pastedown, institutional label to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just the occasional faint handling mark.
