Four volumes of a ten volume set. Containing volumes one, three, nine, and ten only. Collected edition. Written by Sir Reginald Rankin, an English graduate of the University of Oxford who served in the Lieutenant Rimington's Guides during the Boer War. He was the Private Secretary to the Secretary of State Colonies in 1903 and 1904, and held other military positions during his lifetime, including in the Herefordshire Regiment, as well as being a war correspondent for 'The Times' in 1903 in Morocco. He died later in the year that this set was presented to the Library. This set includes: A Subaltern's Letters to His Wife, 1930. Tunisia, 1930. First edition. The Marquis D'Argenson and Richard the Second, 1931. In Morocco With General d'Amade, 1931. Lacking colour folding map. Institutional label to the front paste downs, 'Hereford Public Library. Reference Department. This book was the gift of The Author. 1931'. Publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Light fading to the spine. A library sticker to the tail of the spine of A Subaltern's Letters to His Wife. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers. Much of the text block remains unopened to In Morocco With General d'Amade. Hereford Library bookplate to the front pastedown, with withdrawal ink stamps and sticker to the front endpaper. Additional library ink stamps to the odd page with sticker to the rear pastedown.
