Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, Uncommon, With Dustwrapper, With Letter
In six volumes, out of a total of ten. Very uncommon to see this for sale as a set.
Each volume is in the original unclipped scare to see dust wrapper.
Letter tipped in to the recto of the front endpaper of 'In Morocco With General d'Amade', a letter from General d'Amade, addressed only to 'Mon cher ami', the letter regarding Rankin and their time in Morocco. D'Amade's letter is dated 31st October 1931. Albert d'Amade was a French general who worked in Morocco, and led the initial stages of the Gallipoli Campaign.

Rankin was a graduate of the University of Oxford. He served in the Lieutenant Rimington's Guides during the Boer War, was the Private Secretary to the Secretary of State Colonies in 1903 and 1904, and held other military positions during his lifetime, including in the Herefordshire Regiment, as well as being a war correspondent for 'The Times' in 1903 in Morocco. He died later in the year that this set was presented to the Library.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with discolouration to the boards. Institutional ink to the tail of the spines. Only a few minor marks to the boards. Dust wrappers are lightly edge worn, with a few small closed tears, mostly to the folds, mostly to the rear fly leaves. Tape repair to the tail of the spine of 'Marquis d'Argenson', and to the tail of the front wrap to the fly leaf of 'In Morocco', repairing a chip, and to the rear fly leaf. Numerical institutional ink to the tail of the spines of the dust wrappers. Light handling marks to the dust wrappers. Small tide mark to the tail of the spine of 'Tunisia'. Tape to the rear fly leaf of each dust wrapper. Institutional label to the front paste downs, stamps and labels to the recto of the front endpaper, security label to the rear paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Institutional stamp to the titles pages and verso of the titles, as well as to the margin of the occasional page of text.
