A very scarce facsimile of Matthew Stevenson's 1661 diary and compendium, a charming and unusual work.

Each month is accompanied by a description of the characteristic and recreations of the month.

The diary is completely blank and unwritten in.

Illustrated with wood engravings throughout by Celia Fiennes, a notable printmaker and book illustrator. She was a direct descendent of the seventeenth-century travel writer Celia Fiennes.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some fading to the spine and boards. A few light marks to the boards, and to the spine label. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities. Light spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
