Description
Illustrated, With Dustwrapper
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with pictorial gilt to the front board, and the original unclipped dust wrapper. Top edge gilt. Lovely illustration to the paste downs and end papers. Ink inscription to the half title page, dated 1930. 9 full page illustrations, and numerous other charming illustrations accompanying the text, by Ernest Howard Shepard (1879-1976). Shepard was an artist and book illustrator who was best known for illustrations for The Wind in the Willows and Winnie-the-Pooh. This is the third edition of the second of the enduringly popular Winnie-the-Pooh books by A. A. Milne (1882-1956), first published in 1928, notable for the introduction of the character Tigger.
Condition
In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in very smart condition, with just a little fading to the upper extremities. Spine of dust wrapper is slightly sunned, with some edgewear and tidemarks to the upper extremities of the wrap. Small closed tears to the front joint of the wrap and the fold of each flap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a little offsetting to the first and last blank pages, and faint tidemarks to the first and last few pages.
