What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Scarce
The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original paper wraps.
William Wedgwood Benn, 1st Viscount Stansgate (1877-1960) was a British Liberal politician who later joined the Labour Party. A decorated Royal Air Force officer, he was Secretary of State for India between 1929-31 and Secretary of State for Air between 1945-6.
In this pamphlet, he argues that the term 'Safeguarding', used by the Conservative Party to support their Tariff Reform, is the same as 'Protection'. He states that introducing tariffs on imports - which the Conservatives suggest is to support home industries - will raise home prices and cause more poverty for the most needy.
Undated, dated through copies held at the University of Oxford Libraries.
