The first edition of the work. A presentation copy, signed by the author to the front free endpaper reading: 'For Dr and Mrs M Milton Johns, from Robt. T. Skinner. 20th February 1929' Profusely illustrated throughout with thirty charming monochrome photographs and two maps detailing many of Skinner's travels. Robert T. Skinner was a Scottish mathematician, historical author and antiquarian. In this charming work, Skinner details his travels across France, following in the literary footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson, including a visit to the Hotel in which Stevenson met Clarisse. Many of the featured text was taken from articles written by Skinner for the periodical Scotsman and the Scots Magazine.
Condition
In the original publisher's red cloth. Externally in excellent condition with just very minor shelf wear to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Page roughly cut. Author's ink inscription to front free endpaper.
