Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Based on the author's experiences growing up in the small village of Slad, Gloucestershire, this work was the first of a trilogy, following by 'As I Walked Our One Midsummer Morning' and 'A Moment of War'.

Written by Laurie Lee (1914-1997), an English novelist best known for this popular work.

The first edition, first impression, with issue points 'a fire at the piano-works almost every year' on page 272. This was removed from later impressions as the result of a libel.

Gift inscription to the front endpaper reads, 'From Pete, Penny & Andy, Xmas '59'.

A true first edition of this popular autobiographical work.
