A selection of works from the 'Lonsdale Library of Sports, Games, and Pastimes', a series of works concerning sports, hunting, recreation, and outdoor pursuits. Edited by The Right Hon. The Earl of Lonsdale and Mr. Eric Parker.

All first editions of these works, enclosed in their original dust wrappers. 

This set comprises of the following volumes: 

Volume II. Trout Fishing from All Angles: A Complete Guide to Modern Methods by Eric Taverner, and published circa 1929. Including sixty-five illustrated plates, one of which is in colour. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1948.

Volume VII. Fox Hunting by Sir Charles Frederick et. al., published circa 1930. Containing sixty-one illustrated plates, four of which are in colour, along with numerous in-text illustrations. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1948.

Volume XII. The Lonsdale Anthology of Sporting Prose & Verse, edited by Eric Parker and published circa 1932. Containing twenty-two illustrated plates, one of which is in colour.

Volume XVII. Sea Fishing by A.E. Sooper et. al. and published circa 1934. Containing eighty-six illustrated plates. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1948.

Volume XX. Game Birds, Beast, and Fishes: Natural History for Sportsmen by Eric Parker and published circa 1935. Containing seventy-three illustrated plates. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1946.

Volume XXI. Polo by The Earl of Kimberly et. al. and published circa 1936. Containing forty illustrated plates. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1948.

Volume XXIII. The History of Hunting by Patrick Chalmers and published circa 1936. Containing twenty-six illustrated plates, two of which are in colour. 

Volume XXIV. River Management, The Making, Care & Development of Salmon & Trout Rivers by H.E. Towner Corston et. al. and published circa 1936. Containing forty illustrated plates. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1947.

Volume XXVI. The Lonsdale Keeper's Book edited by Eric Parker and published circa 1938. Containing thirty illustrated plates.

Volume XXIX. Wildfowling by James Andrews et. al. published circa 1950. Containing forty-nine illustrated plates, one of which is in colour. Containing forty illustrated plates. Containing a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 1950.

All plates are collated and complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, volumes are generally smart, with some light shelf wear and light staining to the extremities. A tidemark to the tail of the front board on Volume XXIX. Some bumping to the extremities of and a few marks to the boards of Volume II. Soiling to the front boards of Volume XII and XXI. Original dust wrappers are slightly sunned and contain some edge-wear. Tidemarks to the wraps of Volumes XII and XXIX. A few spots to the spines of Volumes VII, XXI, XXIII, and XXIV. Previous owner's ink inscriptions to the front free-endpapers of Volumes II, VII, XVII, XX, XXI, XXIV, and XXIX. Some loss to the head of the back strip to Volume II. Dust wrappers to Volumes VII, XII, XXI, XXIV, XXVI, and XXIX are price-clipped, remaining dust wrappers are unclipped. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Light spotting to the pages, more prominent to the first and last few pages. A large stain to pages 62 and 63, and 158 and 159, in Volume II. Otherwise, many pages remain bright and clean.
