The privately printed first edition of this work, 'offered as a prize book to certain schools in England and in Canada', and not for general sale. The first trade edition did not appear until 1931.

Illustrated with twenty colour plates to volume I, and twenty to volume II, from a variety of artists, including Jas. Cockburn, C. Kreighoff and C. W. Jefferys. Collated, complete.

With a contemporary inscription to the recto of a front blank of volume I.

A delightful history of Canada from Canadian civil servant and Keeper of the Public Records Sir Arthur George Doughty, in lovely half morocco signed bindings from Morell.

Condition

In half morocco signed bindings by Morrell, with cloth covered boards. Externally, lovely. Light fading to back strips, minor rubbing to back strip heads and front joint of volume II. Inscription to recto of a front blank of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright, with only the odd spot.
