Complete in two volumes.

The travel accounts of Evariste Regis Huc and Joseph Gabet.

Huc and Gabet travelled across the 'Tartary', China and Tibet, and published their findings. Tibet was virtually unknown when their work was originally published in 1850.

Volume I illustrated with a folding map to the frontispiece. 

Translated into English by William Hazlitt.

Edited with an introduction by Professor Paul Pelliot.

Four pages of publisher's adverts to the rear of Volume II.

Part of the 'Broadway Travellers' series.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor marks to the boards and spines. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Spots to the fore edges. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots. Pencil marks to the publisher's adverts to the rear of Volume II.
