'The World of William Clissold' is a unique novel by H. G. Wells, not written in a conventional style; only about half of the novel is devoted to events in the protagonist's life, the other pages being devoted to extended discussions on various general ideas, such as religion, human life, love, business, and more.
Wells is best known for his monumental science fiction novels, to the extent that he is often named the 'father of sci-fi'. These include 'The Time Machine', 'War of the Worlds' and 'The Invisible Man'.
This novel was dedicated to Odette Keun, Wells' long time lover.
